PoliciesVoice Heart Vision // Privacy Policy

Using this website and/or purchasing any service from Jamie Morris, or having any service purchased on your behalf, whether offered on this site or otherwise offered by Jamie Morris, signifies both your and/or third-party purchaser’s understanding of the Statement of Intent and agreement with the policies below and our Privacy Policy.

Statement of Intent: Writing Coaching, Consulting, Editing Services

As a writing coach, consultant, and editor, Jamie Morris provides professional feedback based on her experience in the writing field. Her suggestions and edits are intended to improve clients’ work-in-progress and to motivate, inform, and support her clients. However, in no way is engaging any of her services a guarantee of publication, sales, or critical acclaim.

Additionally, writing is deep work that comes with its own risks and discoveries. While Jamie will endeavor to support clients in their writing process, she is neither a therapist nor an attorney. However, as clients continue on their writing path, they may find that the services of one or both will offer valuable guidance beyond the scope of the relationship between writing coach/editor and client.

Your Intellectual Property and Documents

During the course of their work together, Jamie will be in possession of the client’s intellectual property (IP) and related materials. These are the client’s valuable, special, and unique assets. She will not, at any time or in any manner, either directly or indirectly, use a client’s IP for her own benefit, or divulge, disclose, or communicate any of a client’s IP to any third party without the client’s prior written consent.

However, since Jamie bears no responsibility, at any time, to store or retain any client work, communications, associated materials, or her notes on such, clients should keep their own notes during their conversations with Jamie, as they deem relevant, and retain those, as well as making backups and/or copies for themselves of any communications or materials they have shared with Jamie during the period governed by their professional agreement with her.

Audio Recording

While a client may choose to audio-record any consultation with Jamie if they inform her ahead of time that they’ll be doing so, any such recording is proprietary and to be reviewed only by the client whose work it concerns. No copies of such a recording may be created. No further dissemination of such a recording is allowed. These restrictions are governed by Florida law, the state in which Jamie Morris’s business operates and is registered. Florida law states that all parties must consent to any (electronic, oral, or wire) audio recording and/or the disclosure [dissemination] of the contents of such a recording.

Critique

When a critique of work of any length is purchased from Jamie Morris, the service provided will consist of two elements: 1) her careful read of the client’s materials, and 2) a comprehensive phone or video conversation based on that review. It is the client’s responsibility to take whatever notes they deem necessary during discussion of their work. (See also “Audio Recording Policies,” above.)

Payment and Plan Expiration Policies

  • Clients pay in full for all agreed-upon services before services commence.
  • After a 72-hour cancellation grace period, calculated from time of receipt of payment, all fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
  • All coaching/consulting plans and hourly packages expire one year from purchase date, unless otherwise specified in the PayPal invoice.
  • Changing any appointment with less than 24 business hours notice (9 a.m.-5 p.m., M-F—Monday appointments by the previous Friday at noon) will result in a one-hour charge.
  • Returned check fee is $100 per check. Issuers of returned checks will also be liable for any associated bank penalties imposed.

Liability

  • In the event that Jamie Morris is prevented by illness or other unforeseen circumstances from fulfilling her agreed-upon obligation to any writing coaching client, a refund of any outstanding credit that client may have will be made to the client. Jamie’s liability will be exclusively limited to no more than a refund of monies remaining for unused writing coaching sessions.
  • Clients agree to indemnify, defend, and hold me, Jamie Morris (and my contractors, agents, and representatives), harmless from all actions, proceedings, claims, demands, liabilities, losses, judgments, damages, penalties, or expenses, of whatever kind, including interest, attorney’s fees, court costs, and other reasonable costs and charges that may result from my feedback or direction, written or oral, for which my professional services have been engaged.

Right to Decline

Not all writing coaches can effectively meet the needs of all those seeking such services. If Jamie believes she is not the most effective coach or editor for a potential client, she reserves the right to decline to offer that person her services.
