writing (verb): The act of trying to make words behave on the page.
consultation (noun): A civilized request for backup.
writing consultation (noun): When those two things collide in a calendared conversation.
Working together: writing consultations
What I’m offering: the writing consultations
Are you a writer at a crossroads? Maybe a manuscript is calling to you after months (or years) away. Or maybe a handful of projects are scrabbling for your attention: Choose me! Choose me! Or maybe you have a pressing craft question—POV? genre? pacing?—or just general uncertainty about what to do next!
How a writing consultation can help
Talking it out. Dissecting with kindness. Following threads. Two heads being better than one. With decades of experience, I can steer us toward the good questions—which may be the best medicine. I’ve been told I have a literary sixth sense. Which is great. But, really, this isn’t about me, it’s about you.
Just writing consultations?
We start with a single, focused conversation that’s designed to meet you where you are: sort out the noise, clarify your goals, and blaze a path forward. There’s no further commitment. However, if, after our initial meeting, you feel you’d like more support, we can talk about next steps at that time. (Still, I’ve often found that “unstuck” is only one conversation away.)
Your invitation for a writing consultation
You may have found your way here from someplace that mentioned free consultations ahead of longer coaching packages. While I’m no longer offering ongoing coaching, if you’re a writer at a crossroads, I may still be a good guide.
If you think it would be valuable, we can schedule an initial ninety-minute writing consultation. If you’re ready, I’m ready. Just fill out the handy-dandy form below. I’ll reply with all the details we’ll need to make a date, including availability and current rates.
